Advertising Isn’t So Bad

By: Richelle Wescott

You may be thinking to yourself, the banner ads that pop up at me when I open up my Facebook page for the day are unbelievable. I would never want that in my publication that I submit to my community or consumers; I would never want to bombard them in the same fashion. Little did you know you actually control some of your Facebook advertising, and the ads that we solicit for your publication will actually benefit you and your community as well.

Did you know that when you buy ad space in a publication that uses The Strathmore Company’s Smart Print solution that The Strathmore Company will actually create the advertisement for you? This is one of the many perks that help our customers who want us to advertise their business as well as our customers who want us to print their publication. By keeping all of the advertising creation in-house we can cut the costs and confusion for everyone involved.

The Uncanny Connection between Amazon Kindle Fire and Smart Print Solutions

By Richelle Wescott

Starting August 1st The Strathmore Company plans on entering our customers into a drawing for a new Kindle Fire. Aside from our upcoming contest though, Amazon’s Android tablet has an even more integral tie to The Strathmore Company’s Smart Printing Solution.

In a recent article from Wired.com titled, Amazon Pitching Kindle Fire Welcome-Screen Ads for $600K by Roberto Baldwin, the new ad supported Kindle Fire was discussed. If the newest Kindle continues to offer an ad-supported model they will typically be 30 percent cheaper than the ad-free versions, meaning a 25 percent price reduction for consumers (making it $150). But why does this matter to the Smart Print customer?

Our Redesigned Website

Strathmore swithes to DrupalAbout a week ago we went live with our new and improved Strath.com!

Returning visitors might not see any substantial differences to the overall design and that was the point. We've added some more information about us and dramatically changed the navigation of the site to make your visits a better experience. No longer is the site one long Flash-based page but it's now been broken up into individual pages for easier browsing. Behind the scenes is where the biggest changes have taken place. We've moved from a Wordpress based site to a Drupal 7.0 content management system. After much evaluation, we've found that Drupal is the most flexible CMS and it's popularity and open source code will keep us on the cutting edge of website capabilities.

5 Innovative Mobile Marketing Camapigns to Learn From

“Mobile marketing” used to just refer to phones, but that’s no longer the case. These days, you could be referring to an iPad or maybe no phone at all. Your marketing campaign could be embedded in an app or a QR code or a Facebook link or maybe a combination of all three.

Of course, the Wild West can be intimidating, too. That’s why we’re showcasing some recent examples that might inspire you to try something different with your mobile marketing campaign.

USPS To Flaunt Mail's Smartphone Potential with Summer Sale

Direct mailers in the United States are to see for themselves the benefits of linking smartphone technology with the physical mail, under a special promotion from the US Postal Service this summer.

The world’s largest postal operator is set to offer a special 3% discount in July and August for any letters or flats if they include two-dimensional mobile barcodes that can be read by consumer smartphones.

Already in use within other sectors of print advertising, the barcodes – which include so-called Quick Response (QR) barcodes – allow a householder to scan items with their iPhone, BlackBerry or Android phones in order to access extra information.

This might link them through to online content, special offers or competitions.
